We are walking in support of the 🤍 United Angels Foundation 🤍—true angels in our lives and in the lives of so many families raising children, teens, and adults with special needs. Our children, Savannah and Xander, live with Bardet-Biedl Syndrome, which affects their vision and brings daily challenges that require strength, patience, and constant advocacy. Through it all, they continue to inspire us with their resilience, humor, and courage. The United Angels Foundation has been an incredible source of support, guidance, and connection. They provide families like ours with resources and opportunities we wouldn’t otherwise have—diagnosis support, teen and young adult activity nights, Zoom meetups, and educational classes that help us navigate everything from early diagnosis through adulthood. They help us learn how to advocate for our children in school, including IEP support, connect us with doctors, specialists, and therapies, and most importantly, connect us with other families who truly understand this journey. They also create joyful family events and meaningful experiences that allow our children to belong, grow, and simply enjoy being kids. These moments matter more than words can express. We chose to name our team the Butterbeer Brigade because Savannah and Xander absolutely love Harry Potter, and that world of magic has always brought them joy, imagination, and excitement. To us, they are the magic in our lives. Even while navigating blindness and the challenges of Bardet-Biedl Syndrome, they continue to bring light, laughter, and wonder into our family every day. The Butterbeer Brigade represents how we choose to walk this journey—with joy, imagination, hope, and a little bit of magic in every step.
