We are the Turners, a family of seven defined by love, resilience, and the incredible spirit of our nine-year-old son, Nixon.
Nixon’s journey has been one of unique challenges. He was diagnosed with autism at age four, and by five and a half, he was also diagnosed with Spinocerebellar Ataxia (SCA28). This rare neurological condition affects his balance and coordination, eventually taking away his ability to walk independently—a milestone he had once proudly achieved. Despite undergoing extensive surgeries on his feet and hips to manage these physical hurdles, Nixon’s spirit remains unshaken.
A Life of Joy and Perseverance
While Nixon requires assistance with every aspect of his daily life, his diagnosis does not define his personality. He is a constant source of light for our family. He is:
Resilient: Facing every medical hurdle with a determination to keep moving forward.
Joyful: His life is a soundtrack of laughter and genuine happiness.
Inspiring: He reminds everyone he meets that strength isn't just about physical ability; it's about the heart.
Nixon continues to be an amazing boy who chooses joy every single day, teaching us all what it truly means to persevere.
